It will be run on 24th October staring at  0800 am at Banks Reserve, East Perth (behind the old power station).   This year the organising committee is making it a more family orientated atmosphere this year, with a bouncy castle, face painting and a kids playground.  The event is be organised by Dave McLean and Ken Dewhirst from Wanneroo Joondalup Unit who are promising a very interesting day.

The conference will held at the same venue as last year the Meccure Hotel 10 Irwin Street Perth which is conveniently located in the Perth Central Business District. Mercure Hotel Perth is close to shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Just a short stroll from the Swan River, Perth Mint and Supreme Court Gardens; you'll find many of Perth’s attractions nearby.

The conference will generally follow the format from last year with presentations and workshop sessions spread over the two days.  The main change this year is the addition of the SESVA AGM which will occur at the end of the conference.   The SESVA/FESA organising committee will be working hard to provide you with an interesting and informative conference with great key note speakers, trade displays and much more.

Each SES unit will be invited to send two delegates to the conference with travel and accommodation costs met by FESA. Later this year your Unit will be contacted by your District Manager to arrange travel and accommodation arrangements for your delegates.

The SES Awards night will be held on Saturday 13 November at Burswood Entertainment Complex. Awards will be presented to acknowledge volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to the service and community.

Challenges and change – yesterday, today and tomorrow

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA) continuously seeks opportunities to achieve its vision of a safer community through an improved emergency management capability.  The WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference 2011 is one way that FESA is supporting volunteer and career personnel with their important role.

This conference will provide emergency services managers and practitioners with the forum to learn more about contemporary issues affecting emergency management in our state and explore future trends in the industry.

FESA will be hosting the conference at Burswood Entertainment Complex from Saturday 30 July to Tuesday 2 August 2011. The conference will have specific relevance to Western Australia and provides an ideal opportunity for FESA staff and volunteers to come together to network and learn more about the issues, challenges and changes facing the emergency services sector.
